Wakatobi Dive Resort in Sulawesi is an eco-friendly, remote paradise for adventurous divers looking for pristine world-class diving far from crowds and commercialism. This charming beach resort has individual bungalows, all built by local craftspeople in traditional style.
Choose from four different types of accommodation: three bungalow styles, all beautifully handcrafted in wood, plus the more upscale villas. The spacious and homely bungalows have similar floor sizes and are air-conditioned, with various locations and appointments. All are available with a combination of king-size and twin beds, suited to up to three adults or two adults and two children. A balcony with a couple of lounge chairs with umbrella provides space to sit back and relax. A desk with internet access, a mini-bar and a safe are also included.
Meals are served made-to-order buffet style in the new restaurant. The resort will also host a beach cookout or two during your stay. Special dietary needs are met on request. In the lobby there is a complimentary supply of coffee, tea and cookies around the clock.
Well-traveled divers rave that they have never seen such a vast, pristine and enjoyable reef area as what is on offer at Wakatobi, where there are literally hundreds of world-class sites, many of which are still unexplored. They often say it is the best house reef in the world. You will find numerous species of clownfish in a variety of anemone hosts, turtles, batfish, crocodile fish, rays, ghost pipefish, frogfish, razor fish, sea snakes, porcelain crabs, nudibranches, blue-ringed octopus, cuttlefish, leaf fish and different species of pygmy seahorses.
Boat dives are up to 70 minutes and house reef dives are of unlimited length. Considering the reef’s incredible variety of hard and soft corals extending from just below the surface, it’s a pleasure making long safety stops and enjoying long, relaxed dives at your own pace.
All of the dive guides are trained instructors, with an average of 3,000 dives each. Your safety, comfort, and enjoyment are their utmost concern. Regardless of your skill level, they will take the time to make sure you have a great time cruising the reefs. If there’s a critter you have always wanted to see, they will know the place to find it. |
