Recognizing the incredible diving in this area, Walindi Plantation Resort was established in 1983 and is an intimate dive resort situated on the shores of Kimbe Bay on the island of New Britain, Papua New Guinea. Since then it has set the standard in catering to the diver who craves the very best. You will be stunned by the sheer beauty above water, but the profusion of corals and sheer abundance of marine life that await you underwater in Kimbe Bay will surely blow you away.

The resort is world famous for its quality of diving, international award-winning photography and warm hospitality.

Catering to a maximum of twenty-four guests means you receive all the attention you deserve, yet the freedom to make every dive unique. You will be looked after in Walindi Plantation Resort so you can concentrate on the delights of Kimbe Bay diving.

Walindi’s accommodation consists of 12 self contained, comfortable bures spread along the beach front, and surrounded by rainforest gardens. The bungalows are constructed of local materials and timbers, with thatched roofs. All have ceiling fans; their own bathroom; a kitchenette, with tea and coffee making facilities; also a daily laundry service is included.

The central resort area is the social hub of Walindi and includes the tropical and airy reception and dining room with three Western and Asian style buffet meals at set times; a lounge and bar area for after-dive socializing and relaxing; a swimming pool and sundeck; a boutique and a comprehensive library with computers for guest internet connection. Wireless internet is available in the main resort area.
Walindi Photo provides photography instruction, E6 processing, all types of camera rentals, video services and more.

Three purpose built dive boats transport you to a diverse range of sites, most within 45 minutes of the resort.  Diving operates every day on a 2 or 3 dive per day basis.  Dive equipment is available for hire, along with nitrox.

The boats take 6-8 divers each, and diving is on the many beautiful Walindi Reefs in Kimbe Bay. Located at the very epicenter of the Coral Triangle, divers are treated to some of the greatest concentration of tropical marine bio-diversity in the world: Over 900 species of fish and 420 species of coral at last count can be found within Kimbe Bay itself - that is over half the total world species of hard corals in one bay.

Most of the reefs are a photographer’s paradise; all of them have an incredible array of marine life, from the smallest to the largest creatures and corals. ‘Inglis Shoal’ and ‘Kimbe Island Bommie’ are sea mounts, and attract the larger fish and sharks, as does ‘North Emma Reef’.

Generally, divers head out for two dives, leaving around 9:00 a.m. and returning 4:00 p.m., with lunch provided on one of the deserted islands nearby. On request, three dives per day may be organized, subject to boat availability, and night dives can also be arranged.

Other Walindi Plantation Resort activities are bird watching, visit and swim in thermal springs, viewing WWII wrecks, Kimbe town tour, rainforest walks, village visits and oil palm industry excursions.
