The resort has a swimming pool, a 4-6 person Jacuzzi whirlpool spa and in the main area in the open air pavilion meals are taken and where you can lounge around sipping a cool drink. Satellite TV can be watched in an air conditioned room. You can also avail of lock-up airing shed for storing your equipment each evening.
For a bit of exercise apart from diving, you can explore the island's shores by sea kayak or play a game of beach volleyball.
Sipadan is surrounded by 800 m deep water and is the place to come and see turtles and schooling barracudas. In and around Mabul, you are in for some amazing muck dives.
With regard to the diving facilities, the resort has 6 custom built fiberglass dive boats; 1 custom built wooden dive boat; and 4 half cabin passenger/transport/dive boats. These dive boats can carry 10 divers each and can get you to any of the island dive sites in about 15 minutes.
The facility has tanks with American style ‘K’ valves; also included, a 220/110V charging system for strobes and lights. As a technical diving center the resort offers various services such as Nitrox Air and Technical International (TDI) Certification Courses. The video center provides underwater video filming courses and services and digital cameras can be rented.
There are boats going to Sipadan Island 3 times a day. However, the diving at Sipadan Island is limited because of government restrictions. Therefore each diver can only be allowed to do 2 dives per day and all divers will be diving there on a rotation basis.
Unlimited beach diving is available though and can be done from the jetty of the resort and includes night diving. Tanks, weights and weight belts are provided. All other equipment is available for rent in case you didn’t bring your own gear. |
