Layang Layang, also known as 'jewels of the Borneo banks' is situated 300 km northwest of Kota kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia. Off the mystical island of Borneo lies a little gem, a sparkle within the deep blue sea. This coral-blessed marine heritage is a geographical wonder with the atoll rising from the deep blue depth of 2000 m, hardly breaching the surface. As many as 13 coral reefs have formed here, creating breathtaking underwater scenery - expect a vacation like no other on this isolated atoll.

On the sliver of land lies a modest but complete resort - The Layang Layang Island Resort. Diving is a core activity at this resort, and the diving facilities and programs are comprehensive. Dining is a pleasure as a wide range of Eastern and Western cuisine are spread out for every meal at the restaurant, with menus changed daily.

There are 86 air-conditioned rooms at this resort - 76 superiors and 10 deluxe rooms. Each room comes with its own fridge, TV and private verandah. The resort was designed to look like a longhouse, the traditional community home for Borneo's tribal people. The resort is not short on modern comforts at all.

The in-house PADI dive center is professionally run by a team of experienced and qualified instructors. Many stunning dives await you as the average visibility is between 30 to 60 meters year around.

This combination of deep water, pristine walls and healthy coral gardens means that you will see varied sea life from pelagic to colorful tropical fishes to anemones and nudibranchs. Divers make a pilgrimage to Layang Layang for big time underwater action that includes manta rays, thresher sharks, turtles and even the odd killer whale. But the number one reason they come is for a close encounter with hammerheads.
