Matana Beach Resort is a dive-orientated resort on Kadavu Island, the fourth largest in Fiji is still untouched by major developments and has very few roads The island consists of small local villages, undisturbed coral reefs, beautiful coconut palm beaches and lush rainforest. Local transportation is mainly by boat.
Matana Beach Resort has just 10 bures (Fijian bungalows) and comfortably accommodates 26 - 28 guests at any one time. Built in a traditional yet modern style, they blend into the lush gardens and give you enough space for relaxing in your private time.
A Beachfront Bure has a queen-size bed, a private bathroom and a verandah. An Ocean View Bure is an elevated unit with its own amenities and 24 hour power to ceiling fans and bedside lights, supplied by generator and inverter battery banks. The large deck has a sweeping view out to the beach and bay. This bure is great for couples or singles. Two of the bures have two bedrooms and can accommodate four to five people. They are ideal for families or friends. The remaining eight bures can each accommodate two or even three people.
The dive operation of the resort is second to none. Equipped with 2 dive boats the PADI dive operation, Dive Kadavu, is run from the resort premises, providing world-class diving with over 40 exclusive dive sites only a 10 to 15 minutes boat ride away.
You can expect an abundance of brilliantly-colored soft and hard coral and tropical fish, endless swim-throughs and the chance to see manta rays, turtles, dolphins, as well as large schools of fish that hover around the entrance of a massive canyon, and quickly disappear into the deep as large pelagics and sharks arrive.
The rolling hills behind the resort are covered with walking trails with panoramic views, even right across to the main island on a clear day, that lead high into the rainforest and magnificent views. Swim, snorkel –with mantas even, and kayak in clear pristine waters. Go hiking, bird watching, line fishing, visit the local village school, attend a church service, meke (traditional dance), taste a traditional Lovo (ground baked food), have a Fijian massage or just relax in a hammock.
Welcome to ‘paradise’!
